If you have kids or are a serious chocolate lover, then you probably already know what Nutella is! In case you aren’t familiar with this product, Nutella is an Italian chocolate spread made with hazelnuts.

It is a rich and decadent chocolate spread with a nice nutty flavor. You can typically find Nutella near the peanut butter section of your local grocery store. There may be other brands of chocolate hazelnut spread available but since I haven’t tried another brand before, I can’t guarantee that the cookies would taste as good using a brand other than Nutella.

How Do You Make 4 Ingredient Nutella Cookies?

In the same bowl, add the Nutella, egg and vanilla together. Then add the flour and blend until the batter is consistent and the flour is no longer visible.

Before adding the Nutella, sometimes you need to stir the spread in the jar a little if the nut oil settles on top of the spread. If that is the case, then stir the oil into the spread in the jar before adding it to the other ingredients. You don’t want the extra oil in the batter because it could cause the cookies to spread more when they are baking on the tray.

What Can I Add To Nutella Cookies?

Well if Nutella cookies by themselves are still not chocolate-y enough for you, you can certainly add a 1/2 cup of chocolate chips! Other add-in possibilities (that I can think of!) include walnuts, chopped almonds, cranberries, raisins, toffee pieces or white chocolate chips.

Can I Replace Nutella with Peanut Butter?

The consistency of peanut butter may be a bit thicker but you should be able to substitute Nutella with peanut butter if you prefer.

How Do I Store Nutella Cookies?

Nutella cookies can be stored in the fridge in an air tight container for up to 3 days.

Can I Freeze Nutella Cookies?

Yes, you can freeze these cookies. Freeze baked cookies in a ziplock bag or an airtight container. You can let them thaw at room temperature. The cookies can also be put in the microwave for a few seconds if you prefer to eat them warm.

The raw cookie dough can also be put in the freezer. Its best to make each individual cookie portion and then freeze them in an airtight container or freezer bag.

You can thaw the dough before baking or you can bake them while the cookie portions are frozen. You will just need to add a few minutes extra to the baking time.

Can I Make the Dough Ahead of Time?

Yes, you can prepare the cookie dough mixture in advance and store it in the fridge until you are ready to use it. Then all you need to do is scoop out your cookie portions and bake them.
